- Stroll through Frascati’s beloved food shops and savor authentic bites with a local twist
Description
Your day begins at a 16th-century farmhouse just outside Frascati — a rustic estate where generations of winemakers have nurtured the vines. You’ll meet the family behind the label and explore the atmospheric wine cellar and ancient Roman caves below. Learn how centuries of tradition meet modern DOCG standards (yes, you’ll finally find out what all those letters mean!) and get a close-up look at the winemaking process from grape to glass.
After a wander through the vineyards — with Rome shimmering in the distance — settle in for a guided tasting of three celebrated wines: the crisp and floral Frascati Superiore, the bold Red Vagnolo, and the sweet, golden Cannellino. Each glass is paired with local olive oil and fresh-baked treats from a nearby forno (bakery).
From the vineyard, head back into the heart of Frascati for a walking tour that’s as much about flavor as it is about culture. Sample porchetta still warm from the spit, focaccia fresh from the oven, crunchy biscotti, and yes — more wine, poured generously in the town’s oldest tavern. Your experience ends with a leisurely lunch in a local trattoria chosen for its warm welcome and home-cooked specialties. After dessert and one last sip, the train station is just around the corner — and Rome awaits, only 30 minutes away.
