About this tour

Enjoy 11 days traveling across Italy by train with an English and French speaking tour guide. You will visit Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Rome, Pompei, and the Sorrentine coast. Each train trip will be via first-class and include a hotel-to-hotel luggage service. Each package includes guided tours and accommodations at a 4* hotel with a continental buffet breakfast. Your package will include guided tours as well as free time where you can explore each city on your own. During free time you will have the option of scheduling additional tours and attractions.

The option “buy later” does not guarantee or confirm your reservation on the selected rail package. At any time the selected package can become sold out without notice. A reservation will only be finalized and confirmed once payment is made in full. The payment will be required on the 42nd day before departure.

  • 43 days or more prior to departure:100% refundable
  • 42 days or less prior to departure: 100% non-refundable
  • 100% cancellation fee for no shows or if cancellation is made after travel is scheduled to begin

Day 1

Arrival in Venice

After making your own way to the hotel you will meet your tour director to begin your Italian adventure. You will start by learning about Venetian cuisine and sampling Cicchetti (typical tapas accompanied by wine) on a private guided walking tour. Learn the fascinating history of the hidden gems of Venice as you wander throughout this romantic maze rich in secrets and characters like Casanova or Titian. As you stroll, taste some of the most delicious Venetian street food.

Venice to Florence
Day 2

Florence

After breakfast, you can take the morning to explore Venice before boarding a high-speed train in the early afternoon to Florence. You will be traveling via first class with luggage service. Once at destination enjoy an in-depth guided walking tour of the Best of Florence, exploring the beauties of the city by night. You will visit Piazzale Michelangelo with its amazing view over the city, the Ponte Vecchio, the famous Uffizi courtyard, the amazing Brunelleschi’s Dome which overlooks the Baptistery’s golden “Gates of Paradise”.

Day 3

Florence

After breakfast, you will enjoy a day of leisure. Take advantage of your tour leader who will help you enjoy your time with many ideas.

Our suggested optional activity: A guided tour of Tuscany. Beginning in Pisa,  have lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant, visit San Gimignano and then following the panoramic roads of the Chianti region, you will arrive in Siena, the city of the Palio Horse Race. Please note, there is an additional charge for these tours.

Day 4

Florence

After breakfast, you have the day to explore Florence on your own schedule with the option to take a guided tour.

Visit Uffizi Gallery to discover the secrets behind Botticelli’s masterpieces and admire works by great artists like Botticelli, Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio. Please note, there is an additional charge for these tours.

Florence to Rome
Day 5

Rome

After breakfast, board a high-speed train to Rome traveling in first class. Again, don’t worry about your luggage, we will take care of everything. When you arrive in Rome you will take a panoramic tour of the Eternal City which includes the Vatican Museums. Following a carefully planned itinerary, you will visit the famous Sistine Chapel, plus a wide variety of galleries featuring ancient sculptures, tapestries, medieval maps, paintings, and precious relics. With skip-the-line, you’ll have direct access from the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica so you can visit the stunning masterpieces held within. You’ll see Michelangelo’s ‘Pietà’ and the incredible bronze altar. After a quick break, stroll the alleys of Baroque Rome and marvel at its most iconic sights (Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Tevi Fountain and more).

Day 6

Rome

After breakfast, you have the day to explore Rome on your own schedule. Take advantage of your tour leader who will help you enjoy your time with many ideas.

Our suggested optional activity: Borghese Gallery, one of Italy’s most visited art collections. Gaze at masterworks by Caravaggio, Raphael, Titian, and Bernini, without the distraction of crowds; stroll among locals through the blooming gardens, statuary, and fountains of the Borghese Gardens. Or learn how to cook classic Italian cuisine by taking part in a VIP Pasta and Tiramisu cooking class. Please note, there is an additional charge for these tours.

Day 7

Rome

After breakfast, you have the day to explore Rome on your own schedule. Take advantage of your tour leader who will help you enjoy your time with many ideas.

Our suggested optional activity: Take a regional train 30 minutes to the Frascati region to enjoy award-winning wineries. With the help of your English speaking guide, you’ll stroll through the alleys of the old town and see its main attractions. At the end of your tour, enjoy a special dinner in a traditional restaurant famous for home-made pasta and appetizers like the Porchetta (spit-roasted pork). Please note, there is an additional charge for these tours.

Rome to Naples
Day 8

Sorrento

In the morning, board your high-speed train to Naples, traveling first class. After the 1-hour ride, you will transfer to the Sorrento Coast stopping in Pompeii for a guided tour. Learn the dramatic story of the Roman city destroyed and buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. After the guided tour, you’ll proceed to Sorrento.

Day 9

Sorrento 

Take today to enjoy charming Sorrento. Relax on the beach or take advantage of your tour leader for insider ideas on how to best spend your time in Sorrento.

Our suggested optional activity: Full day excursion to Capri. After arriving at the port of Marina Grande you’ll take a boat trip around the island. Weather permitting, you will visit the famous Blue Grotto. (the visit inside the sea cave by rowboat is not included in the price of the trip, and must be purchased separately at the entrance to the Blue Grotto). After returning Marina Grande you will take the minibus and reach the glamorous La Piazzetta. There you’ll have time to sightseeing on the island on your own, for some shopping or taking pictures of breathtaking views. Please note, there is an additional charge for these tours.

Day 10

Sorrento

Take today to enjoy Sorrento on your own schedule. Relax on the beach or take advantage of your tour leader who can provide suggested activities.
